My plate is a vessel because it can hold food or even a house plant. Either way it can hold stuff because that's what plates basically do. I feel that the whole entire thing was successful, the shape stayed in-tacked of the plate. Even the design I put on the plate turned out really good. In the past my luck with clay was terrible. This is the first time it actually turned out beautifully and I also enjoyed doing it. If I were to change something about this if I were to do it again it would to make the sides little less bumpy. To find a way and smooth it all out to be leveled. I would also try to make the design become more white. I don't know if the grey spots is part of the clay or I didn't carve the under glaze away enough either way if it's possible I'd work on fixing that.
What inspired me to do this piece was just plates in general. As I was looking at vessels I saw round shiny plates with pretty colors. I found it very pleasing to the eyes. So asking thousands of annoying questions i got to work on making this plate. The plate had a nice clear spot for any sort of picture. For some reason the idea of the earth came to made so that's what I decided. I thought it was to plain, like I could add something else and that's when I decided to put the compass which turned made the piece look complete.
