I ended up teaming with someone else and their unconventional material. We were given piano strings to work with.Using piano string is difficult,it is a very springy thing to work with. We had to go out in the hallway to work on it so we wouldn't poke someone since it jumped out of it's position a lot of times...well most of the time. Bending them into a circle was also challenging, we ended up being able to sculpt it to where it stayed put. Then to secure it we used copper wire to keep it together as well to hold the piece as a whole. The most successful part is having the size of each circle reflect against one another very well. That when it's hung up on a wall it really stands out, each circle isn't hidden behind anything, it all has it's own personal statement. I think what I would have changed is the very tips of the circles stick out and maybe be able to cut it down or find a way to smooth it with the direction of the circle. I think to change this piece to add some subtle color with it, like turquoise paint outlining certain strands of the piano string. Just to really let it pop out more than it already is doing.
I only have two pictures of the piece since it's been in the Halle.
