For this project there was a list of different kind of elements that we could chose from. I decided to chose Color, I love color and the field for art projects is limitless. I love blending colors, or layering to make a picture. So for this project I didn't really know what I was going to do. I came across these bright colored paint/ink items. I started layering the colors but I stayed with a color scheme. I only used colors that went well together, so I kept layering and layering reds, pinks, purples and some blues. Then after getting some advice from my art teacher I got ideas to make it more whole. I then decided to make swirls, more of a neat approach. For the next few tries I got more advanced at layering the colors and keeping it cleaner. Also I ended up using longer paper to make it bigger and look more complete. The end results turned out really good.
After I finished those I was then challenged to make it 3D. At first I had no idea how to do that but with a lot of help I was able to make it happen. What ended up happening was I carved out a right triangle out of Styrofoam, it was big and it was definitely 3D. I then used this white fluffy stuffing type of materiel which I could pull apart and use pieces. I wrapped the Styrofoam with a sheet of the stuff painting it down. Next I pulled strands apart and covered it in paints. To make it look like the colored swirls on the 2D version. I got it to stick by using the paint, it dried on the Styrofoam. Once I covered it with different colored twisted stuff then came the next part. I wrapped it with string to add color and texture. After that I weaved wire in it, having some pieces stick out to give it the same look as in the 2D version. Then when the main piece was finished it got mounted on the wall to make it look like it's coming from the ceiling. The results are below.
