For this project I chose the word silence. With the follow up question, What is silence? After deep thinking and exploring other peoples views on silence there is never any silence. Nobody could be talking but there is always a hum in the air or even the sound of floor boards squeaking from someone moving around. I thought it would be cool to find a way to show that there isn't such thing as silence. Even if the person viewing the art disagrees with my interpretation it's still makes them think and form there own opinion.
I have this book that I tore apart, the reason being is I looked up to this book series, I looked up to the main character. The ending silenced her. I self reflected realizing that silence can come from death even if the person that died isn't real to begin with. When the main character was silenced it brought silence to my words. This happened about two years ago. Now I think on just because this character died her words still live on...that doesn't sound like silence to me. Then someone told me to bring her back to life. So that's exactly what I did.

By doing so I rewrote the book in a creative way. Starting with the cover I covered it with the extra pages. What extra pages? The extra pages I tore out of the book in pure anger. In the end it turned out like so. These pages are scenes I had loved and I still do love. The whole entire cover front and back is covered.
Every book has a title right? Since I covered the real title also I don't want anyone to know immediately what this book is underneath. I bet some people could easily figure it out if they read the pages but that's part of the fun. Anyways I decided to give it a new title instead of leaving it blank. Un-silence the silenced. Like I have said before there is no such thing as real silence.

The pictures above are just a few of the things that I put into the book. The mountain picture I drew with chalk pastels. I drew a bunch of pictures in the book. Some are flowers, city life, a tree and many more. The middle picture with the purple writing I did a lot of those. I wrote over the words with my own, describing the main character, showing how she still is alive. The last picture is black out poems. I only did a few of them because I found that I wasn't very fond of them, the challenge wasn't in my liking. I didn't do every page, I felt that leaving some of her adventures and words lets her live on.
The reason I chose these drawings and choice of words was this is my way of putting life back into this character. Un-silence the silenced.
