The successful part of my main piece was that I was able to form shading on it with a heating pen. Those things are not easy to use and I was impressed that I managed to get the textures of the mountain involved. Next time I would change the background because I feel it's to dark. Some of the stars are messed up as well because I wasn't sure where I was going with it at first. I would try to find a way to make it lighter or maybe not even add the background at all. I would keep the stars for sure but this time I would know how to make the stars.
It was different entirely, I only had plans to wood burn not to cut anything out or add holes for the stars to put lights in later on. I also had planned to add a quote that inspired this piece in the moon but I quickly realized that words are not easy at all. I messed that one up badly which is another reason I decided to cut the moon out. The shape of stars didn't go the way I had originally planned it either. I wanted it to be a kiddish kind of look to it but again it's way harder than it looks leaving me to come up with a different way to add stars.

The two mini projects did not help me in anyway. That is only because cardboard is different from wood. With the cardboard we had used a X-acto knife to cut away the layers of the cardboard. The clay tile, well, that is just adding and taking away with clay and different tools. The wood burning, a different tool was used to take away from the wood. Yes, all three loop together of taking away from the piece or even adding on but I didn't see how that helped me with my main piece. Maybe, it helped me understand what a Relief piece was all about which led me down the path of finding what to do with my main piece.
I over came a lot of problems. Most of them I mentioned above or in my last blog (Relief...it's finished) but I will recap. The main problem was trying to figure out where I should add more burning or where I should not. The background I over did it a bit too much. The stars I messed up which makes it look a bit trashy. The sky is also uneven, one side is dark the other side isn't as dark. I honestly feel that the mountains were the only thing that turned out alright.
